You Live Here
One day I was mowing the lawn and daydreaming about being in a different place and in different circumstances and the Lord said to me, ‘You live here… today.’
There is a very fine line between dreaming about the wonderful things the Lord may have in store for us and fantasizing about a place, time, and situation where we are not. Dreaming is an exciting ability the Lord has given our minds to explore the possibilities of things He may accomplish that are beyond our imagination.
It reminds me of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians where the Lord says, ‘Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us.’ On the other hand, fantasy is something that steals our joy from where we live today.
Then how do you sort it out and know the difference? Don’t worry, the Spirit will sort it out for you real fast as long as you have eyes to see and ears to hear!
Obviously, while I was mowing the lawn, I was quickly moving from an enjoyable daydream to an unreal fantasy and the Lord had to get my attention and say, ‘Hey, you live here! Come back, come back to this house, this neighborhood, this little piece of the world where I have placed you today.’
In this world we are constantly bombarded with thoughts that pull at us to be dissatisfied with where we are and lose the moment the Lord has so carefully put together and prepared beforehand for us to walk in.
I believe the Lord puts a lot of thought and time into preparing the current day in which we live. It’s probably a bit discouraging for Him when we don’t embrace and enjoy it as much as He had hoped and dreamed we would.
My oldest sister who is now in eternity with the Lord used to say, ‘When you eat an orange… eat an orange!’ In other words, fully focus on and embrace the experience of the orange you are currently eating so you can wholly enjoy the orange!
Don’t be distracted by anything that wants to pull you away from your savored moment with the orange. Be in the moment of today that the Lord has so meticulously prepared for you.
The place where the Lord has us today, the people the Lord has in our lives today, and the circumstances the Lord has us in today couldn’t be more perfectly planned and placed.
Take a moment to step outside your house today, lift your hands in the air and say, “This is where I live! Amen!”
